The Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works in Ireland was established in 1991.
 
The main objective for which the Institute was established is:
To promote for the benefit of Ireland the preservation of Historic and Artistic works therein
 
Its structure is that of a company limited by guarantee and not having share capital
(No. 178248). Because of its educational role, the Revenue Commissioners has granted it
charitable status: CHY10652.
